CD, My Kingdom Music, 2008

Thanatoschizo is a little difficult to categorize, with some Gothic, Doom, traditional and Death Metal elements. The vocals are shared - male and female. The female vocals remind me a little of Drain STH in style, but with a slightly higher pitch. A little one-dimensional, not much variation save for a few scattered exceptions - same for the male vocals, but when they sing duets things get more interesting. They use sound effects quite a bit, which can get annoying at times. The music is relatively tame overall, sounding a little "dark" but with a lot of more uplifting passages, pretty much negating each other. There's quite a bit of Middle Eastern-sounding passages that blend in surprisingly well with the rest. It's well played, but comes out a little bland in the end, and failed to grab my attention after several listens. But I know some people who dig this kind of stuff - check out some samples before buying is all I can say. [3/5]
