Guilhermino's quiz, Rock Music United
For the record what is the name of your band or are you a solo artist? ThanatoSchizO is the name of the band.
And your name and what do you play in the band? (if solo artist do you play any instruments?) Guilhermino. I play the guitar.
Can you please tell us how your band became a band/how you became an artist? We were good friends and felt the urge to make music of our own.
Where are you/or the band originally from? We are from Santa Marta de Penaguião, a small village in the North of Portugal.
How would you categorize your band or music? (Hard rock, metal, rock, pop, death metal, punk) Progressive Death Metal or Avant-garde Metal.
When did you/or the band play their first concert? In my ex-school in Vila Real.
What is the biggest crowd you and/or the band have ever played for? Maybe in the Liperske Festivals or in Alta Tensão Festival.
So what is your favourite song either that you perform or you like from your album/s? L. is my favourite song.
So what can people expect to see at one of your shows that have never seen a show of yours before? A strong performance of honest music.
How many times do you perform a month? It depends. This month we have two gigs.
What is the weirdest thing a fan has done for you? A tattoo of our logo.
Do you think my space is the place to help undiscovered musicians and solo artists? Not really.
What are your music goals? We just want to play the music we'd love to listen to.
What's one thing you would suggest you need if you want be in music biz? Honesty!
Was music your passion since you were young? Yes, for sure!
Are there any new artists out there you would like to recommend to people? I recommend Invisible Flamelight and Primordial Melody. Both from Portugal.
What's the question that you are tired of people asking you? None, really!
What are your influences? Life.
Who is the one band you would like to tour with? Porcupine Tree.
What do you think of the major record labels nowadays? Do you prefer independent or major? And why? I don't have any problem with major ones. I prefer the ones who work seriously with us.
Where do you see the band or yourself in the next five years? Keeping it up, recording more albums and performing live.
What does your band or your music sound like? Or how would you describe your sound to someone who has not ever heard your music? Imagine a melting pot of Metal, World Music and electronics and you got it!
If you could be one animal what would it be and why? A dog. I just like them!
Do you ever get compared to any band? Nowadays no. Thankfully!
Do you think your band/music can make a difference in the music scene and if so how? I think we have a very unique dynamic and no other band sounds like us.
What is so different about your band/music that should make people want to listen to your music? Its exotic character.
Do you enjoy what you do or did you start out doing it because it was the "cool thing to do" (be honest, some people just do it to get laid/drugs etc). We started this to make our musical statement. Just simple as that.
Best thing you like about music? It can get me to different moods while listening to it.
Beat thing about your fans? Their dedication!
Favourite aspect of being a musician? The excitement of presenting new music every 2/3 years.
Your greatest accomplishment: The fact that we are together for more than ten years, with four albums, one mini-CD and a demo.
Hobbies & interests besides music: Arts.
Your most prized possession is: Our studio and everything inside it.
If there was one person in history dead or alive you could meet who would it be and why? My four grandparents, since I never got a chance to meet them.
If there was one musician or band dead or alive you could meet who would it be and why? John Lennon. Because he was an honest musician with something to say.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things could you NOT live without? Music, Food and new challenges.
First album you ever bought? AC/DC – Live at Donnington.
Do you have any hidden talents? Can't say I do.
What is currently playing in your ipod or cd player? Atrox and Klimt 1918.

When you were growing up, do you remember listening to any bands in particular? Sure. I listened to a lot of left-wing revolutionary Portuguese musicians.
Do you think any band should give it up and call it a day? If so, why? No. Every band should know if they are artistically relevant.
Lately who is your favourite band? The Beatles.
What do you think of the local music scene nowadays? It's been very active and it's time to create something like a New Wave of Portuguese Death Metal.
