THANATOSCHIZO – Insomnious Night Lift / Rage Of Achilles

InsomniousNightLiftTo be honest I was not expecting what I heard in this album. The name of the band is certainly not describing their music for once. I was expecting something more brutal but instead I found a band playing dark atmospheric metal with some influences from death metal. What’s more they are playing it well. They use both male and female vocals and both vocalists are decent. Their music is groovy and you will find some haunting dark melodies in their album along with some excellent atmospheric passages here and there. The more brutal parts are good as well and the guys can easily be described as a highly talented band. Of course they are not perfect and they still need to work a bit on their arrangements and their songwriting, but the vast majority of the songs are more than just satisfying. A promising band from Portugal, from which I would love to hear more in the future, since in this album, their second, they present some great potential.
